The Characters

Calorn, Claybeg and John all invisuble slipped away from the rest of the party. They could not speak to locate each other but the plan they had for this situation functioned perfectly. They had all gone to the left hand wall, so first Calorn felt along till he found John, then John found Claybeg. They were in a crowded barracks area which was completely inappropriate for a meeting point. Calorn gave Claybeg a push back in the direction they had come. Taking the hint Claybeg headed back that way. It was hard for them to stay together in the crowded passage but eventually they reached a stairs they had past some minutes previously. Going down the stairs led them into a large busy room. At the far end were two trees, one silver the other gold. Between the trees was a large door. The walls were decortated with pictures of ancient Dunedain. Some of the pictures had been white washed over, probably of victories over hillmen. Two other exits were visible. One corridor from the left hand wall and one from the right. The three headed into the corner on the left from the stairs. Nobody else was in that part of the room and they felt it was safe to whisper. They agreed to use that corner as their meeting place. It was then decided to split up. Claybeg was to right, Calorn left and John through the door. Wishing each other luck they went their sepeate ways. Calorn headed left into the corridor. This passage was also quite busy and was filled with the sounds of cooking. This was good news as Calorn hoped he would be able to find Alquawen by following servants carrying special trays of food. Calorn slipped past the entrance to the kitchen. There were less people in that part of the corridor it seemed to be mostly servants quaters. From the last door on the right came a horrific stench. The only people around that room were filthy serfs. From there the corridor turned left and continued to a locked door. Nobody was around to open the door so Calorn left hoping it was just another storeroom. Once back in the main room Calorn headed towards the trees. It was hard to tell if they just glittered or in fact glowed but they were very beautiful. Calorn guessed they were a gift from the Elves to the Dunedain who built these halls. From there he decided that he would also explore the other side of the door. He waited there for a group of servants to come along and open it for him. Eventually such a group arrived. The first holding the door for the others who were carrying stuff. Unknow to them an invisible Elf slipped through the door with them. Calorn found himself in a large feasting hall. Twelve large marble tables were positioned around the room and a large table was on a dias opposite from the door. Two corridors led from the room. Again one on the left and one on the right, The entrances to these corridors was guarded by porticuluses. Luckily these were currently open with crowds streaming through. Calorn headed for the corridor to his left. Entering it there was a closed door to his right. Past the door the corridor turned right then headed down a stairs. The stairs was quite unusual. It proceded down eighty steps. The first twenty steps were stone, but then the next twenty were made of wood. This pattern repeated itself the whole way down. The stairs led into a corridor traveling left to right. To the right was a door. The crowds travelling down the stairs mostly turned left but a fair number headed right. In front of the coridor were two doors into a guard room. Calorn headed left. To his left was a large bricked up passage. Further down was another openning to the right. Heading into this openning Calorn found a food store. The room mostly contained bags of grain, but there were also breads and other readily edible food. Leaving the foodstore Calorn again headed to the right, the passage turn to the right and entered a large natural cave. There were several guards patroling and the walls were covered in some form of wards. Not knowing the functions of the wards Calorn decided to head back to the door at the foot of the stairs. After some minutes he managed to slip through the door. He found himself in another corridor. To his right and left were doors and ahead of him stairs led down to another level. Nobody was entering the doors so he headed down the stairs. The stairs was covered in a slim that stuck to his feet and left prints. But seeing as his happened to everybody he reckoned it found not cause him to be dectected. From the base of the stairs another corridor led to a narrow door. Slipping through the door Calorn found himself in a narrow corridor that ran left right. In front of him was a closed door. Looking to both sides should that the walls of the corridor were lined with doors. Also the corridors were lined with relaxed guards. Conluding that they were just barracks corridors he ignored them and slipped through the door in front of him. The door led to a short narrow passage that led to a large natural cavern. Everybody else in the cavern was heading to or leaving from a corridor on the far side. The only other obvious exit was a door to the right. Calorn headed towards the door to take a break. He sat against the wall and rested for two hours. In all that time nobody passed through the door. After resting calorn decided to explore the corridor leaving from the cavern. It was narrow and crowded so he had to wait for a while for a lull in the traffic. After a few minutes he slipped down the corridor. I led to another corridor lined with doors. The place had the feel of servants quaters so Calorn slipped back to the cavern barely managing to avoid bumping into some people. Deciding the whatever was on the far side of the door might be important he again settled in beside it waiting for someone to open it for him. After several hours nobody used the door, so he headed back to the main hall to meet with John and Claybeg.
